Private giving helps ensure that The University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) can provide the highest standard of education in the classroom, conduct basic and applied research through the Georgia Agricultural Experiment Station, and extend the college to every citizen of the state through the Cooperative Extension Service. Donors can create, sustain, and enhance existing programs and new opportunities with the college by providing support for students, faculty, facilities, alumni programs (Eterna Fund), and other critical needs in the college. Various options of giving come in the form of Current Gifts* and Deferred Gifts*. The Office of College Advancement provides faculty assistance for fundraising and alumni relations to CAES employees. What is a gift? A gift is an irrevocable transfer of personal property (e.g., cash, securities, books, equipment) or real property by a donor, either outright or through a planned/deferred gift vehicle (e.g., charitable gift annuity, retained life estate, charitable remainder trust, life insurance, will bequest). Charitable purposes are designated by the donor and without expectation of a tangible or economic benefit to the donor except tax benefits and life income in the case of planned/deferred gifts. A gift to the University of Georgia implies no responsibility to provide the donor with a product, service, technical or scientific report(s), or intellectual property rights. Providing stewardship services to the donor (such as the names of recipients of scholarships, awards, appointing the donor to membership on advisory committees, etc.) or providing a proposed budget or summary of how the funds were expended does not prevent the contribution from being considered a gift. The donor may specify the use of the funds or the gift may be unrestricted for use in meeting needs identified by the University and the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Note: Giving to the CAES is subject to the policies and procedures of the Arch Foundation. Questions concerning giving (or restrictions of giving) can be directed to the CAES Office of College Advancement. If you would like to make a gift designated for the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, or would like to learn more about giving opportunities, contact Rob Cooper, Director of Development, Office of College Advancement, at (706) 542-3390 or via e-mail at ocamgr@uga.edu. Note: Your contribution can be designated to support a specific purpose that is important to you, or left unrestricted to be used where the need is greatest. All situations are unique, and you are encouraged to consult your financial advisor regarding IRS regulations and your opportunities to give.
