OIT - Instructional Labs

The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Office of Information Technology staffs and maintains two computer labs on campus. The labs are located in Room 1203 of the Miller Plant Science Building, and in Room 134 of the Poultry Science Building. The labs are furnished with the latest in computer technology. Computers were upgraded in 2002 with Windows-based Dell 1.6 Gigahertz machines. Each workstation has its own compact disc burner, high capacity zip drive, and a dedicated inkjet printer. There is a networked laserjet printer and scanners in each lab.

The lab's primary purpose is instruction. Professors schedule time in the computer labs for their classes. A schedule of these times is posted outside the labs. During times of non-class use, students are free to use the lab for other purposes.

All computers have access to the central computing resources, the campus network, and the Internet. All are loaded with a variety of software including Microsoft Office, Corel Office, SAS, and other class-related software. The Miller Plant Science Lab also has the distinction of having and Adaptive Technology workstation. This workstation has special software loaded to aid a user that might have vision and/or other motor disabilities.

OIT staffs each room with qualified student workers, who are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the labs. Workers are available to assist users with software and/or hardware problems that they might enounter while working in the lab. Student Worker schedules are posted each semester.
